How Calculator Estimates Are Calculated
Each calculator starts with the reference rate for the selected purity and multiplies it by weight to get the metal value. Buying calculators then add making charges, wastage where applicable, and GST. Selling calculators apply a dealer deduction instead. Exchange calculators compare an old item's value against a new item's total cost.
About the Rates Shown Here
The base rate for each metal — 24K gold and 999 silver — is entered manually and is a reference value, not a live market feed. Other purities are calculated from that base rate using standard fineness ratios, unless a separate rate has been sourced for that purity specifically. See the gold rate and silver rate pages for the exact figures and methodology.

Every calculator result is an estimate for reference only. Actual making charges, wastage policies, purity testing methods and taxes vary between jewellers, so always confirm the final price and an itemised bill with the jeweller or service provider before completing a transaction.
